Gothenburg colorism in a new light

  • Göteborgs Konstmuseum 6 Götaplatsen Västra Götalands län, 412 56 Sweden (map)

The Gothenburg colourists used strong colours and personal motifs to create emotional visions that resonated with the audience. During the 1930s, their powerful colour expressionism had no equal in the country.

The exhibition "The Wonderful Colour: Gothenburg Colourism in a New Light" offers new perspectives on artists such as Åke Göransson, Ivan Ivarson, Nils Nilsson, Karin Parrow, Ragnar Sandberg, and Inge Schiöler. Join us for the opening at 2 pm in the exhibition mezzanine, with welcoming remarks by Museum Director Patrik Steorn and an opening speech by author Lydia Sandgren. The exhibition is presented by curator and research leader Kristoffer Arvidsson, with sign language interpretation provided. Admission is SEK 65 for a day ticket or SEK 110/130 for a museum card, with free entry for students (with ID) and youth under 20. The exhibition runs until April 7, 2024.
