Spoken Word and Open Mic

  • Folk Teatern 1 Olof Palmes plats Göteborg, Västra Götalands län, 413 04 Sweden (map)

In collaboration with Gothenburg's Poetry Slam

Gothenburg's Poetry Slam is back with the first evening of the spring season at Folkteatern with an open stage for poetry and the city's best booked acts! Captivating texts from both undiscovered storytellers, Swedish and international poetry slam masters and established book poets.

We steadfastly declaim ours and thus begin with a postman from Malmö, a merchant traveler in Nordic melancholy and one of the foremost poets of our time!

Everything is led as usual by the poet and writer Olivia Bergdahl.

Do you want to participate in the open stage? You can read a poem, maximum five minutes long, and you secure your place by sending an email to: gbgpoetryslam@gmail.com

Anna Arvidsdotter

Poet and writer, very current with the debut collection of poems Händer att hal i, as well as editor of the Association of Workers' Writers' latest anthology amma work legacy. Prized for his texts which, with incredible precision, ring in contemporary times, working life, society. With equal parts spoken word and book poetry, straight from the Scanian plains — welcome Anna Arvidsdotter!

Bengt Berg

Poet, publisher, former Member of Parliament and Värmlander in the world who has written, appeared and written again decade after decade. With a calm and razor-sharp look at the world we find ourselves in and an unfailing feeling on stage, it's no wonder that his poems have taken him around the world, as a traveling salesman in Nordic melancholy or a very serious humorist — straight from Värmland's forests, Bengt Berg!

Athena Farrokhzad

Poet, playwright and translator who debuted in 2013 with the poetry collection Vitsvit and made Swedish literature a larger literature. Now current with the poetry collection Donkey's year. Praised, celebrated, debated, an ever-burning torch in contemporary darkness and an incredible poet - Athena Farrokhzad!
