Open Air Cinema

  • Slottsskogen Göteborg (map)

On August 17-18 it will be the Gothenburg Film Festival Open Air again. Then Gothenburg Film Festival sets up the largest cinema screen in Azaleadalen in Slottsskogen and offers free outdoor cinema together with Gothenburg's 400th anniversary.

The films shown are two of the big favorites from the past Oscars; the big winner Everything Everywhere All At Once and Elvis, which was nominated in eight categories and was the early favorite for Best Actor.

There is free entry to the Gothenburg Film Festival Open Air in Slottsskogen and the screenings start at 9:15 p.m., but the festival's DJ is already on site from 6:00 p.m., so bring the picnic basket and arrive in good time. No ticket is needed.

There will also be a number of food trucks on site.

August 17: Everything Everywhere All At Once

An exhausted Chinese-American woman (Michelle Yeoh) is swept up in a crazy adventure, where she is the only one who can save the world by exploring other worlds and through the lives she could have lived. Everything Everywhere All At Once is a boundless and fast-paced action adventure that took the world by storm and won a total of eight Oscars, including the statuette for best film.

August 18: Elvis

Elvis Presley literally shook up youth culture, not only through his music, but above all through the way he delivered it. Behind the scenes was his legendary manager, Colonel Tom Parker, the man with a plan to transform the young artist into the world's greatest entertainer at any cost. Baz Luhrman (Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby) has created a gripping portrait of the king of rock'n'roll, played by the portrait-like Austin Butler. In the role of Tom Parker we see Tom Hanks.
