Quartango and GAO reunite in a guest performance at Skeppet

A few years ago, these two ensembles met in a musical euphoria and now it is once again time to create magic together. Quartango is resurrected after a few years in idea and presents a fantastic concept concert together with GAO. (Gothenburg's Alternative Orchestra)

The Gothenburg band Quartango with its roots from South America, Sweden and Hungary has for many years created music with influences from pretty much all over the world. Most of it is self-composed and the timbres and harmonies have the typical Quartango colors. Everything from challenging harmonies and virtuosic elements to languishing loops in their songs and the instrumental playing where the harmony becomes a whole that fits the group's identity. The link between these two groups Quartango and GAO is of course Jorge who is artistic director, musician and composer for GAO and also a member of the group Quartango.

GAO is a unique concept within larger orchestras in Gothenburg which is a collaboration between 35 different world musicians, who through diversity, unity and cross-border music undoubtedly form Gothenburg's most powerful alternative orchestra. With a powerful stage presence and mischievous playfulness, they create music that touches. Its members' own influences give a special touch to the orchestra that is unique in its kind. With elements ranging from the Middle East, Africa and back to Svedala, these are just some of the orchestra's repertoire, where you unite in a harmony of world music that only GAO can create.
