On September 2, it will be the Gothenburg Film Festival Open Air again. Then the Gothenburg Film Festival sets up the biggest cinema screen on the lawn below Björngårdsvillan in Slottsskogen and offers a free outdoor cinema together with Film i Väst and Gothenburg's Kulturkalas. The film shown is the Norwegian audience favorite The Worst Person in the World.
With two-time Oscar-nominated The Worst Person in the World (best screenplay and best foreign film), Joachim Trier once again shows why he is one of the Nordic region's leading filmmakers and contemporary portrayers. Julie turns 30 soon and her life is a big mess. She has thrown away her talent and her older boyfriend, Aksel - a successful cartoonist - wants them to settle down and start a family. When she sneaks into a party one evening, she meets the younger and charming Eivind. She breaks up with Aksel and throws herself into a new relationship in the hope of gaining a new perspective on life. But she will soon realize that some life choices are already behind her. Renate Reinsve won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role as Julie.
- The Worst Person in the World is one of those rare films that you fall in love with immediately and then never forget. It's an irresistible triangle drama about life choices, art and being in love on a summer night. It feels absolutely perfect to show it under the summer sky in Slottsskogen, says Jonas Holmberg, artistic director, Gothenburg Film Festival.
Gothenburg Film Festival Open Air in Slottsskogen is free and the screening starts at 21:00 on September 2. From 19:00 the festival's DJ will be on site to set the mood, so bring the picnic basket and arrive in good time. No ticket is needed.
Co-organizers of the Gothenburg Film Festival Open Air are Gothenburg's Kulturkalas and Film i Väst, which is celebrating 30 years. The arrangement is presented together with main partner Lynk & co and partners Göteborgs-Posten and Norrland's Light Alkoholfri.
