Mary Shelley's multifaceted novel about the man in the monster and the monster in the man points to one of the great questions of our time: how should evil be understood?
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (1797-1851) was only 18 years old when she created the monster that would become one of the most common horror characters in our popular culture.
More than 200 years later, the issues addressed in the cult novel about the scientist who creates a living being of corpses are still relevant. Questions about ethics and morality, the responsibility of science, exclusion, our fear of the foreign and evil.
