Design Hotels in Gothenburg
As a weekend destination Gothenburg is a rising star on the European scene. With direct low-cost flights from London, Berlin, Paris and trains stopping from Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm it has become a popular city break with boutique hotels to cater to that market. If you want to treat yourself to a stay then these design hotels are the ones to check out… and into.
Dorsia has 37 individually decorated rooms. The hotel has a decadent style inspired by "La Belle Epoque" with fabrics from Designers Guild and premium beds from Carpe Diem. Expect Egyptian cotton bedding and a great breakfast in a beautiful dining hall. A double room costs approximately 2500 SEK.
Pigalle is inspired by the sinful Paris designs of the early 1900s; thick carpets, velvet curtains and quirky framed pictures adorn vintage wallpapered corridors. A lift that giggles, as you go up to your floor, is just one of the quirks to expect at this playful establishment. The rooms are extremely comfortable too. A double room costs approximately 2750 SEK.
Hotel & Ristorante Bellora/Göteborg & Co
Flora has 65 bedrooms over four floors right in the heart of the shopping action with Magasinsgatan and Vallgatan just around the corner. Stay in the Royal Swedish Room or the Rock Room for a mix of functional, modern and vintage style. Hotel Flora also has a popular bar. A double room costs approximately 1750 SEK.
Bellora has 98 rooms over seven floors. Evoking the 50s and 60s in Italy the Ristorante Bellora serves lunch and dinner every evening. The Rooftop Bar opened at the beginning of summer 2016. The interior design is by the Gothenburg-based Spik Studios. A double room costs approximately 2000 SEK.
Avalon Hotel is a feng-shui certified hotel right in the city centre. Blending feng-shui principles and Scandinavian design, this is a boutique hotel where light, scent and sound create an atmosphere of serenity and style. The glass-bottomed rooftop swimming pool is open between May and September and offers panoramic views. The breakfasts are fantastic year-round. A double room costs approximately 2000 SEK.
